  • How can I tell if a painting is available for purchase? [Back to Top]

All paintings without "Private Collection" in their description are available for purchase. Pieces with this description have already been purchased.

  • Will you ship a painting if I don't live in Seattle? [Back to Top]

Yes, at an additional cost. Paintings can be packaged in sturdy wooden crates and shipped most anywhere in the world.

  • Do you work on commission? [Back to Top]

Yes. Peter prefers projects that will allow him to paint directly from observation, but he may be open to other projects as well. Contact him for more details.

  • What do the terms 'from life' and 'direct observation' mean? [Back to Top]

Artists use these two phrases to indicate that a particular piece of work was done while the artist was looking at the subject of the piece (as opposed to looking at nothing or a photograph for reference). Peter finds this distinction meaningful because when painting directly from life the artist is the sole interpretor of the scene being observed. Photography is an excellent artistic medium, but Peter prefers to work without its help because working from direct observation eliminates the mediation a camera would provide.

  • Can I be notified of any shows? [Back to Top]

Yes. Simply add yourself to Peter's private mailing list and you will receive postcards notifying you of any upcoming shows. Not sure if Peter has you most up-to-date mailing address? Complete the mailing address form and Peter will update your address in his records.

  • If I give you my mailing address, will I get a bunch of junk mail? [Back to Top]

Definitely not. Mailing and email addresses are kept entirely private and used solely for the purpose of notifying you of upcoming shows and events related to Peter's work. You won't receive any junk mail, but you will get a nice postcard every now and again!
